Veronica Gutierrez

Veronica GutierrezBorn in Lima, Peru.  Graduated Bachelor of Visual Arts and a Major in Sculpture from the ”Pontifical Catholic University of Peru”.  Took stained glass workshops in Italy and Spain of restoration.  After graduating,  took blown glass workshops at Miami University.  Moved to The Florida Keys in 2000.

Working in Stained Glass since 1986.   Although I have a Major in Sculpture, GLASS, COLOR AND LIGHT have been my passions since I was in elementary school and stained glass is a medium that allows me to express my creations.  Through the years, I got an expertise in Restoring Antique Stained Glass windows of Monumental and Public Buildings as well as in private residences.  Extensive artiscal experience by directing and managing stained-glass and mosaic workshop and studio for 14 years in Lima, Peru and for 8 years in Key Largo – ‘Veronica’s Art and Glass Studio’ -- where original custom design pieces of stained glass are produced.  Right now, I'm experimenting fusing dichroic glass in the kiln with different textures and colors for jewelry.   I have been teaching stained glass and mosaic at The Art League at Ocean Reef, since 2003.  My pieces are in exhibition in different art Galleries throughout the Keys.

My experience as an art teacher was mainly teaching drawing techniques (charcoal, chinese ink, pencils, pastels, etc.) perspective and composition fundamentals, portraits, landscape and still life to children, teenagers, and adults.   Also taught modeling in clay, wood carving, and stone at my workshop.  As founder and teacher of a Ceramic Studio in Peru I develop unique pieces, taught clay techniques to students, and developed own formulas for glazings and other clay paintings for low and high temperature.   I’m Art Teacher at the Academy at Ocean Reef working with students from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th. Grade teaching them Art History and Art Techniques.

Kelly Hostetler

Kelly HostetlerKelly Hostetler of Spirit Dance is a self taught artist, born in Mishawaka Indiana, lived in the southwest as a small child, but for most part was raised in the Florida Keys. His paintings shed light upon the Southwest, Visionary, Native American, New Age and Seal Life Dreamscapes. It was in 1989 when he channeled the name Spirit Dance to represent the pictorial works of which were yet to come inspired by his writings. Kelly questioned his philosophy by way of poetry and once he felt direction this led him to express his insights through the brush. He feels painting is a good medium because it has the ability to touch all, via it's silent universal language. He expresses the relativity of conflict among the earth's inhabitants and recognizes the humor in the ignorance of it all.

Stacie Krupa

Stacie KrupaStacie Lynn Krupa (M.F.A.) is a contemporary, expressionistic Master level, Mid-Career Professional, working artist and business proprietor with a public working studio and her own galleries in Islamorada, a small island community about 90 miles south of Miami in the Florida Keys. Her work has been described by critics as, “bold, powerful, in-your- face”. She has trademark, intense gestures that create large images, monochromatic schemes and raw, edgy canvas creations that command attention and warrant repeated viewing. Krupa can push the observer to contemplate the struggles life often presents while maintaining a whimsical, fun-filled play quality to the works, continuously seeing her subject matter in new and interesting ways. Krupa was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on February 19, 1967. Her parents are John and Helen Krupa.

She grew up as an only child. She spent much of her childhood interacting with animals and sea life. She considered them her pseudo siblings. They were her first influences and have been a primary subject matter throughout her career. She began her bold approach to art early. When she was 10, she painted large images on pillowcases and sold them to family, friends and neighbors. She placed third in a nationwide art content based on the Spielberg movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” Krupa began formal study of art at twelve years of age when her father cajoled a painting professor in Orlando where they were living to let her try “hanging out and participating” in the adult drawing classes at the Orlando Museum of Art. Her work and her intense focus earned her the right to remain in the class.

Darryl Norem

Darryl NoremTraveling to new locations, new adventures has fascinated me since I was a child. For me, a change of landscape is an invitiation to re-examine my vision. My art reveals itself as a puzzle of forms, celebrated in a variety of colors and textures, methodically patchworked to create the landscapes that define my life. I start my one-of-a-kind pieces with thumbnail sketches and small color studies, then draw distinctly edged images with a utility knife on archival boards and build dimension by layering these pieces. In drawing, I aim for expressive energy, movement and whimsy. I add tiled areas built up from my own painted, hand-cut and laid ragboard pieces. Tree forms play a vital role as stationary beings that relate to each other and to the viewer. When enhanced by intense color and lively painting, the places I render recall either unique or imagined experiences in my life. Everything from start to finish, including the frame, is done solely by me. Horizons in the distance describe my wanderlust, while pathways and thresholds direct my possibilities. The people I meet and places I travel infuse my work and, together, explain where I have been and who I have become. My hope is that my life journey will be filled with the unexpected and that there will always be yet another roadway for me to venture.

Brooke Spaulding

Brooke SpauldingBrooke Spaulding has been writing poems since she was in her early twenties. She used the process as a pathway to grow spiritually and to help herself digest her own life. The first thirteen years of her career were with the same Seattle based company (Pacific Marine Schwabacher, Inc.) where she advanced to Director of Personnel. All educational expenses were paid by this progressive company including meditation classes, affirmation seminars and other self-enhancing formats. She used these skills along with counseling training to provide in-house counseling for company employees as a motivational tool.

At age 29, Brooke decided she wanted to be an artist and enrolled in night classes. A year later she left her company and moved to Texas to be with her (later to become) husband and instead of staying in the personnel field, she enrolled at Pan Am University to become an artist. She soon found she had a natural aptitude for design and worked for two of her art professors on their side businesses. While living in Louisville, KY she did freelance art for a few galleries, honed her skills and found her own style. Her passion is still leading her on a creative journey.

Brooke lives in Key Largo, Florida where she teaches art out of her home studio. In her renderings, she currently conveys her enticement towards the sea and abstract ‘Love Hearts’ where she uses mixed mediums to express her impressionisms with an array of intense color. Her attraction is contemporary art that sends a “loving-energy” message. Brooke is currently writing a poetry/art book which is dedicated to the concept of mindful thinking. She describes herself as an experimental artist, changing her medium, canvas, and style as her vigor guides her. She loves to send her message through her line of greeting cards, glass etching/paintings, stained glass, mosaics, sculpture, and (of course) poetry and art.
