 Runaway and homeless youth are often suspicious and resistant to help. Project Lighthouse, our street outreach program in Key West, uses a very different approach, which allows clients—or "Travelers" as they are referred to—to drop in to Project Lighthouse quarters to work on art and sculpture projects or to play music. If they want to go home, we help them get there. If they choose to stay in Key West, we give them referrals to local social service agencies or help them get off the streets and get work so that they can support themselves. If they choose to move on, we help them make realistic plans to enable them to arrive at their next destination safely.
