The children we serve range in age from newborn to 17 years old. These children may stay with us for a few hours, a few days, or many months, depending on their circumstances. We try to make their stay with us as pleasant as possible, while their family issues are being resolved.
There are certain items that are always on our "Wish List" for the children at our shelters.
We need clothes and shoes, new or in good condition, in all sizes for both boys and girls.
We can also use toys, games, dolls, stuffed animals (as long as they are new), books, diapers, and sporting equipment such as baseball mitts, ping-pong paddles and balls, tennis rackets and balls, basketballs, and fishing poles.
The children at our shelters also enjoy recreational outings-fishing trips, meals in restaurants, afternoons at the movies, etc. If you own a local business that could donate these services, or would like to treat our children to a recreational outing, please let us know.
There are also things that come up from time to time that we add to our "Wish List." (Last year, for example, we had to replace one of our air conditioning units.) To find out what special needs the shelter may have, or to donate any other items on our "Wish List," please call 305-852-4246, ext. 222.
